2019 National Championship Entries - Last Date

2019 UK National Championship

The 2019 UK Osprey National Championships will be hosted by Mounts Bay Sailing Club located in Marazion, Cornwall. This will be the 10th time the club have hosted the Osprey Class National Championship.

Racing is scheduled over 4 days from Sunday 4th August to Wednesday 7th August, with 10 races planned; 2 on Sunday & Wednesday and 3 races on each of the other two days.

The event will be shared with the Enterprise Class which will increase the number of people attending and provide an opportunity for bigger social events and some inter-class interaction.

The entry fee will be £165 (£190 for late entries so don’t be late) for which you will get a full racing programme with big courses on one of the best bays for sailing in the country. Evening meals will be provided and a full social programme including a Commodore’s Reception on Saturday and a drinks reception on St Michael's Mount.  For those who want to extend their stay the club will be open for the remainder of the week as the Enterprises are having a week long Championship providing an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful beaches, coastal walks and other attractions that Cornwall has to offer.

Motorhome and camping will be available close to the sailing club.

We hope to see many of you there, to make this one of the best Championships ever and to really show those Enterprise sailors what they are missing!

The entry list is available. The first entry was from Alex Willlis & Nick Willis 1291 "Waimanu" from Kielder Water SC & Hayling Island SC on Monday 11th February 2019.

After discussion with some of the sailors attending the championships we felt that the original menu had too many mince meat menus. So an updated menu of options with a change of times for the dinner has been produced.

Other information from out host club Mounts Bay Sailing Club:

  1. We do have contactless payment facility in the bar. We do not have a cash back facility. There is a cash machine at The Cobble Corner shop/Post Office in the town. However this does close at 18:00. The nearest cash point after the shop closes is Sainsbury’s on the way to Penzance.
  2. The official term for Marazion being plastic free is “Marazion has a Plastic free status” (apparently this means a high percentage of businesses in the town have signed up to be plastic free, which means that you can still get bottles of water in the shop and plastic spades etc. We stiill encourage sailors to fill up refillable bottles, this can be done from taps in galley and in sailing pen.
  3. Any rubbish on boats can be passed to rescue boats for disposal ( not committee boats ).
  4. St Michaels Mount visit is ticket only (tickets can be transferred). People attending must beware that the tour starts at the top of Mount at 18:30 prompt and we need to be off the island by 20:30 . Boats to the island start at 18:00 and last boat off the island is 20:30.
